In this seminar, we study the challenges of data processing in the cloud. We discuss the topic along papers very recent publications in 5 blocks:
- distributed system challenges
- data consistency
- database systems in the cloud
- transactions in the cloud
- serverless data processing and shuffling
Prerequisites
- Fundamentals of Databases (Grundlagen Datenbanken, GDB) or similar course.
- Additional database implementation courses are highly recommended.

- You have to present your paper, moderate the discussion for another paper and write a report
- Two of you present their paper each week
- Deadline for your report is 2 weeks after presenting your paper
- Presentation will take place each Monday from 2pm to 4pm starting from the 26th of April
